Kershaw County deputy okay after DUI chase, collision

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Kershaw County deputy is okay after being rammed by a U-Haul truck driver, who deputies say was under the influence on Saturday, October 12.
According to investigators, around 4:30 a.m., 67-year-old James Washington sped away from law enforcement and drove on the wrong side of Highway 1 from Bay Lane in Camden to Lugoff at speeds near 80 miles per hour.
During the chase, Washington rammed into a deputy’s vehicle causing it to flip on its side.
Washington later lost control and stopped in front of a house where he was arrested.
He’s being charged with a DUI, and possessing a stolen vehicle among other crimes.
