(WCBD) - As we reach mid-October, the Lowcountry is buzzing with excitement for a variety of festive events that celebrate the season and bring the community together.  From spirited Halloween festivities to lively food festivals, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp. Mark your calendars for an array of activities that promise fun for families, friends, and furry companions alike, all while supporting local businesses and charitable causes.  Here’s a look at some of the highlights happening in the Charleston area as we embrace the end of October. October 17 IOP Farmers Market & Food Truck Jam Thursday, October 17 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm The last market of the season will provide something fun for everyone, live music, a balloon artist, a face painter, and a variety of local artists, farmers, crafters, and specialty food vendors. October 18 Park Circle Trunk or Treat Friday, October 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. At the First Annual Park Circle Trunk or Treat cars with trunks or hoods will be dressed to impress and filled with candies for local trunk or treaters! It is free to register a vehicle for the Trunk or Treat! To register please email Angela at [email protected] with the make/model/theme of your vehicle (interactive themes are a plus)! Keep it kid-friendly. Edisto Blackwater Boogie Festival October 18-October 20 The festival is a weekend-long celebration offering camping at Givhans Ferry State Park or nearby locations for a full immersion in nature and music. Proceeds from the event will support park improvements and the creation of an ADA trail along the river bluff. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, live performances by local musicians, food trucks, kid-friendly entertainment, bonfire jam sessions, and guided tours. A weekend of music, community, and fun while supporting a great cause! Big Bounce America at Woodlands Nature Reserve October 18-October 20 Big Bounce America, the world’s largest inflatable event, is coming to Charleston at Woodlands Nature Reserve. This family-friendly event features massive custom-built inflatables, including The World’s Biggest Bounce House, with activities for all ages. Food vendors, seating areas, and lockers for valuables will be available. Attendees are encouraged to wear light activewear and bring spare socks, with towels and extra clothing recommended for those entering foam attractions. Read more here. October 19 Dogtober Fest at Freshfields - Kiawah Saturday, October 19 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Freshfields Village is hosting its annual Dogtoberfest featuring a free Pet Expo benefiting local rescue groups. Guests can enjoy adoptable meet-and-greets, live music, food from My Lil’ Bubba Bar-B-Que, and a Pet Costume Contest at 4:00 p.m. Vendors will offer pet products, and Dolittle’s will have special deals, including free doggy gelato for the first 20 customers. A Blessing of the Animals will take place at 3:30 p.m., and beer and wine will be available for purchase from FortyEight – Wine Bar & Kitchen. Halloween Carnival & Movie Night  - City of Goose Creek Saturday, October 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Join the City of Goose Creek Recreation and Stratford High School JROTC for a night of games, candy, contests, and fun at this year's Halloween Carnival! Dress up in your best costume and head to Central Creek Park for this free, family-friendly event. After the Halloween Carnival, there will be a special, spooky, & fun showing of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Fall Food Truck Feastival at Firefly Distillery Saturday, October 19 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Firefly Distillery's annual Fall Food Truck Feastival is a free, family-friendly event that will feature live music by Molly Durnin, craft cocktails, beer, and food from popular local food trucks like Big Daddy’s LoCo and Bangin’ Vegan Eats. Local vendors will also be present, offering a variety of goods. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Carpooling or ridesharing is encouraged due to limited parking. October 24 Boo Bash at Nexton Square Thursday, October 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This year’s Boo Bash will feature a live DJ, family-friendly activities, and trunk or treating. Costumes are encouraged for everyone, and there will be a costume contest! Cypress Gardens Halloween in the Swamp October 24 - October 26 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. each night Cypress Gardens is bringing back its popular Halloween in the Swamp for three thrilling nights! October 25 Oddtober Party at Odd Duck Market Friday, October 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Odd Duck Market is hosting its adults-only celebration featuring a spooky merch drop by Eric Van Scoik, permanent jewelry from Some So Good Pop-Up Shop, and unique collage art by Collage Kitsch. Guests can also enjoy tarot card readings from Truly Brilliant Tarot and live bandana stitching by FAST DOLL. The event includes an Oktoberfest beer tasting with 20% off beer and wine, plus bratwurst grilled on the Blackstone. DJ Slowcountry will provide the music, and there’s a costume contest with a $200 gift card for the best costume and a $100 gift card for second place! October 26 Spooktacular Market at Commonhouse Aleworks Saturday, October 26 from noon to 6:00 p.m. Join us at Commonhouse Alework's Spooktacular Vendor Market & block party that features over 90 local vendors, trick or treating for the kids (vendors can bring candy to pass out), swig & swine BBQ, costume contests for adults and kids w/prizes, face painting, tinsel hair, and more! Free to attend fun for all ages! Charleston Beer Fest at Riverfront Park  Saturday, October 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., VIP Early Access at noon Charleston Beer Fest returns to Riverfront Park in North Charleston. This year’s festival promises to be bigger than ever, with over 60 craft breweries, 20+ food trucks, 30+ craft vendors, and a full lineup of music, featuring acts like Dustbowl Revival, Empire Strikes Brass, Certainly So, and Kanika Moore & the Brown-Eyed Bois. Attendees can enjoy craft beer, and delicious food, shop in the vendor village, and compete in beer games, all while supporting a great cause—helping those living with HIV/AIDS in the local community. Trick, Treat, and Trail Family Fun Walk at Wannamaker Park Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Trick, Treat, and Trail Family Fun Run/Walk and Stroll, is chock full of trick-or-treating, ghoulish music, face painting, jump castles, refreshments, and more. The event begins with a 5K fun run/walk and stroll, then stick around for a Boo Fest full of ghoulish entertainment, candy, and a costume contest. Fall Festival at Mount Pleasant Towne Center Saturday, October 26 from noon to 3:00 p.m. The Fall Festival, presented by Starling Chevrolet, promises a fun-filled day for families and pets, featuring the annual Pet Costume Contest with a $10 registration fee starting at noon. Contest prizes include a $500 gift certificate to Park West Veterinary Associates. Attendees can enjoy live music, dance activities, stilt walkers, face painting, and a bounce house. Food and drinks will be available from various vendors, while a marketplace will showcase local businesses, all benefiting the Charleston Animal Society. Trunk or Treat / Movie in the Park at Hanahan Amphitheater  Saturday, October 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wear your costume and get ready for trick-or-treating at the Hanahan Amphitheater! Trunk or Treat begins at 6:00 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for families with exceptionalities) The Costume Contest will begin at 7:15 p.m. and the movie "IF" begins at 8:00 p.m. Boogieman Festival at Royal American Saturday, October 26 from 1:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Live from the Royal American parking lot: 15 Bands on 2 Stages! Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and music from 2 p.m. - 11 p.m. Hunley 19th Annual Oyster Roast at CHS Visitor Center Saturday, October 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The annual Oyster Roast is back for its 19th year! The event offers good music, and all-you-can-eat oysters, BBQ, and sides. All proceeds support maritime historic preservation and education. IOP Golfcart Parade and Carnvial Saturday, October 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Halloween carnival, costume golf cart parade, drive-through haunted house, inflatables, food vendors, and trick-or-treat bags for all of the kiddos!         All Golf Carts must be registered to participate in the parade, and the top 3 best-decorated golf carts will earn prizes! Halloween Bar Crawl / Costume Contest - Blue Steel Saturday, October 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Charleston's only locally hosted Halloween Bar Crawl with select bars, DJs at every stop, drinks specials, tons of swag, and $1,000 in costume contest prize money. Tickets to the bar crawl are required to receive free and priority entry to participating bars, drink specials, and giveaways, and be eligible for the costume contest! October 27 Vintage Market at the Refinery Sunday, October 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Charleston Vintage Market is back at The Refinery in Charleston! Shop with over 40 vendors selling vintage clothing, art, home decor, jewelry, sneakers & more! You can also enjoy food & drinks from Cleats and The Whale. The market is free admission, and dogs are welcome! Trick or Treat at the Museum Sunday, October 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kick off your Halloween celebrations with the Charleston Museum! Wear your costumes and visit the Education Classroom for crafts, activities, and spooky snacks! Then go on a guided trick-or-treat trail in exclusive areas of the Museum. Reservations are required. Children of all ages are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Eight Four Flea Halloween Market at the Cedar Room Sunday, October 27 from noon to 5:00 p.m., Early-Bird admission at 11:00 a.m. The Cedar Room will be filled with over 40 curated vendors showcasing an array of vintage clothing, accessories & more! Vendors will also have a selection of housewares, knick-knacks, records, and more! Enjoy a live DJ, food trucks, a trip to the coffee shop downstairs, or a festive drink from the cocktail bar downstairs Bar Mash while you shop. Shop local, support independent vendors, and embrace the magic of Halloween with vintage flair. Ten-year Block party at Revelry Sunday, October 27 from noon to 6:00 p.m. Revelry's 10-Year Block Party marks a decade of Revelry brews and local nonprofit The Green Heart Project giving back to healthy food education in Charleston! Enjoy tasty food from Chef Michael Toscano and others, music by DJ Sparkbox, rooftop fun, and family-friendly activities. Tickets are $10 and kids get in free! October 29 Hutson Alley Halloween - Oyster Roast / Pumpkin Carving Tuesday, October 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets include an all-you-can-eat oyster roast, 3 drink tickets, and a pumpkin ready for carving! Drink tickets can be used for a seasonal draft beer, or Halloween-inspired Bacardi cocktails. Additional drinks and food items will be available for purchase. All carving supplies will be provided, and prizes will be awarded for the most creative, spookiest, best traditional carving and more! Kids are free with the purchase of an adult ticket! October 31 Spooky Island Halloween Party at Ryder Hotel / the Backyard Thursday, October 31 at 8:00 p.m. The event will have a Tarot Card Reader, DJ Jerry Feels Good, a Candy Apple station, and tropical-themed cocktails that’ll chill you to the bone. Not to mention over-the-top decor and surprise entertainment. Dress in your most creative costume for a chance to win the costume contest and an overnight stay at The Ryder Hotel.
