BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Gov. Jeff Landry proposed a friendly wager with the governor of Arkansas ahead of the Tigers' matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, Oct. 19.
On Wednesday, Landry posted on X tagging Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, "I've been running low on bacon. When LSU football beats the Arkansas Razorbacks this weekend, I'd love some Coursey's bacon. If y'all win, I will send over a sack of crawfish." Sanders had not yet responded as of the time this article was published.
The matchup between the two college football teams is known as the Battle for the Golden Boot. According to LSU Athletics, the trophy, valued at $10,000, is in the shape of Arkansas and Louisiana, is 4 feet tall and weighs nearly 200 pounds.
The Tigers had an overtime win against Ole Miss. LSU is No. 3 in the SEC rankings with a 5-1 overall rating. The Razorbacks' last win was against the Tennessee Volunteers, and they are ranked No. 7 in the SEC.
The LSU football team will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for a 6 p.m. game in Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Fans can watch the game on ESPN and listen to it on the LSU Sports Radio Network.
