BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- An 8-year-old child was seriously hurt Wednesday after he was struck by a vehicle in central Bakersfield, officials said. Emergency responders were called to Bank Street and Holtby Road for a report of someone being struck by a vehicle at around 1:45 p.m. Juvenile arrested in death of Lamont 12-year-old identified The collision happened near Roosevelt Elementary. School district officials confirmed it was a student. The Bakersfield Fire Department said the 8-year-old was in critical condition and was taken to Kern Medical for treatment. The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating the collision.
