PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- A Mack truck driver involved in a crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in Woodbridge is now facing a charge, according to the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD).
On Oct. 9, police said crash investigators obtained a court summons for 56-year-old Kojo Essandoh, of Triangle. The summons comes after a police investigation revealed that Essandoh violated a traffic law, which contributed to the death of 23-year-old Melanie Ruby Morales, of Woodbridge.
The crash happened on Sept. 5, just before 3:30 p.m., when Morales was driving a 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle.

The police department's investigation revealed that Morales was speeding on Old Bridge Road when she lost control and separated from her motorcycle. That's when she slid under the truck and was run over.
Morales died there.
Police said Essandoh failed to maintain his lane, which contributed to Morales' death.
On Oct. 15, Essandoh was served on the court summons. As of Wednesday morning, his court date has not yet been scheduled.
