(BCN) -- A Santa Rosa man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly threatening employees at a local business before engaging in an hours-long standoff with police officers. Workers at a retail store in the Coddingtown Shopping Center contacted Santa Rosa police on Sunday at about 10 a.m., reporting that a man had called the business 29 times within about a half hour and allegedly made threats, including that he would detonate explosives in the business. The man later came to the store and allegedly threatened employees with a knife, according to police. Suspect in North Bay school threat arrested in Nevada Police identified 56-year-old Alejandro Fuentes as a possible suspect. They accuse Fuentes of also calling 911 and making threats to police department personnel more than 100 times between Saturday and Sunday. Santa Rosa police officers went to Fuentes' residence in the 1600 block of Herbert Street and made contact with him on Sunday night, but he refused to leave the apartment, police said.After leaving two officers stationed at the residence to monitor him in case he came out, police served search and arrest warrants at the home the next morning. At about 7:20 a.m. on Monday, the police department's Hostage Negotiations Team and tactical teams were called to the scene. After about five hours of negotiations, nearby apartment buildings were evacuated before the police department's SWAT team shot tear gas into the residence. As they entered through the front door, Fuentes surrendered. Fuentes was booked into Sonoma County bail and was being held on $2 million bail, according to police.
