Gavin Malm, a local broker, said this is a growing trend and something he’s brought up with colleagues at the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors. APD recommends that if someone is selling their home to check back on it regularly or have someone stay in the home that they trust. They also said to let neighbors know and to ask them to check on the property. [2] Albuquerque non-profit’s warehouse burns down with donations inside - A warehouse fire on Monday wiped out donations for the Oliver Rigby Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that animal shelters across the state. The fire happened at their warehouse on Menaul near I-25 and co-founder Terri Dean says the building is a total loss. The foundation was planning to take supplies to Las Vegas next week, but that trip and more are cancelled until they can replace the things lost in the fire. [4] CNM will get millions of dollars for new fabrication facility if bond is approved - A bond on this year's ballot could help set aside funding to support creative entrepreneurs in Albuquerque. If passed, CNM will move its Fuse Makerspace to the main campus. CNM said the project has given people access to tools and office space to help get their ideas off the ground. CNM says if the bond passes they will have the money to build a new facility for the Makerspace on top of where the current student services center is. Bond question three would give $16 million to CNM. [5] New Mexico breweries win awards at the Great American Beer Festival - The Great American Beer Festival wrapped up in Denver, CO on October 11, and Albuquerque’s Tractor Brewing, Boxing Bear Brewing, and Quarter Celtic Brewpub took home medals. The competition was broken down by category. Tractor Brewing won gold with their Mustachio Milk Stout and Boxing Bear’s Chocolate Milk Stout won the silver in the Sweet Stout or Cream Stout Category. Quarter Celtic’s Vienna Fest Bier took home the gold in the Vienna-Style Lager category.
