PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Patriots player is now accusing Providence police of  “unprofessional racism” after he was involved in a traffic stop last night. According to the police report which ABC6 has obtained, Patriots player Christian Barmore was originally stopped by police for a temporary registration with an unknown state. Police said during their first interaction with officers, Barmore had “an attitude towards police,” and when requested for proper paperwork for the vehicle, he then handed it over in “an aggressive manner.” According to officials, the registration for the Pennsylvania vehicle had expired on October 5. During the time, Barmore was on the phone with his mom in the vehicle requesting a “Sergeant on scene,” and was then observed reaching under the seat to conceal an object, police said. After numerous times, Barmore did step out of the vehicle but indicated he “did not want to be touched,” police said. Officials said he then walked towards the rear of the vehicle while police proceeded with the search and we found an ash cup along with what appeared to be a blunt rolled with an unknown substance where he was seen reaching under the seat. Under the passenger side seat, according to officials, officers found what appeared to be several tubes filled with marijuana. Barmore was given a summons for operation of an unregistered vehicle, display of plate penalties, and driving with an expired registration. I just experienced for the first time 5 Providence cops being very unprofessional racism at it’s finest — Christian Barmore (@chris_barmore) October 16, 2024 Coach Jerod Mayo stated during a press conference today that he and the team are aware of the situation, and he has spoken to Barmore since the incident.
