LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! It’s a cold start to the day with temperatures falling into the low-to-mid 30s for many areas. This afternoon will feature more sunshine than yesterday but still be well below average, only climbing into the mid-50s. There will also be a cool northwesterly autumn breeze that will be around through much of the day. Calm winds, clear skies, and drier air will allow temperatures to drop tonight, falling into the low 30s in many spots. You can expect widespread frost to begin your day on Thursday. Thursday afternoon is where temperatures will start to improve. Most locations will climb into the upper 50s with some locations reaching the low 60s. A very strong area of high pressure will be building over the area. This will mean very clear skies across the area for Thursday through the first part of the weekend. Thursday night will be another chilly one thanks to the dry air and clear skies, patchy frost will be possible to start your Friday morning as well. The weekend is where temperatures really start to warm-up, climbing back above average by Saturday into the low 70s. We will be reaching the mid-70s by early next week as another stretch of above average temperatures is likely. This also likely to be a dry stretch as well. It will be the third weekend in a row with fantastic conditions at Keeneland as the Fall Meet continues. There are plenty of other fall activities happening across the area as well and weather is not a concern for any of them. Our next chance of rain likely won’t be until at least mid-to-late next week.
