Suspect Wanted For Allegedly Stabbing Girlfriend In Belmont

BELMONT, N.C. – Police are searching for a suspect who is accused of stabbing a woman on October 11th.
On the morning of October 12th around 8:30 am officers with the Belmont Police department responded to a report of a stabbing at 513 East Avenue.
The incident was reported by an off-duty officer working at Carolina Regional Medical Center (CRMC), who informed the department that a patient had arrived at the hospital with stab wounds sustained at this address.
The victim, who was transported to the hospital by a friend, informed officers that she and her friend had been out earlier that night. They returned to the residence at 513 East Avenue around 2:30 a.m.,
Shortly after their arrival, the victim’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Elijah Lurry reportedly entered the home and became enraged, accusing the victim of ignoring his calls while she was out.
According to a news release, Lurry proceeded to assault both women and stabbed his girlfriend during the altercation.
He then forced them into a room inside the residence and held them there for several hours. Eventually, the victims were able to escape and seek medical attention, police say.
Lurry fled the scene and is currently wanted by the Belmont Police Department. He is considered dangerous, and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the police immediately.
Charges filed against Elijah Lurry:
Attempted first-degree murder
First-degree kidnapping
Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
Misdemeanor domestic violence
Misdemeanor communicating threats
