CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If you use a weak password, even one with 13 characters, someone who knows what they’re doing can crack it almost immediately. A strong password, 15 characters, letters, numbers, and special characters is impossible to crack. The challenge, is coming up with secure passwords unique for every account and be able to remember them. So how do you do it? Passkeys are the latest option. Log in on one device, and use a QR code when you want to login on another phone or computer. Fingerprint sensors are an option. But you’ve got to always have it with you. Then there are password managers like OnePassword and LastPass. These cost money. All of these options are good solutions. But the best way is using a secret code that only you know. Pick your favorite movies or songs. We’ll use the songs “Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes” and Darkness on the Edge of Town. Capitalize the major words. Now, we’ll add a special character and number between the song titles. Security.org says it’d take 200 million years to crack this password. But you shouldn’t use it for everything, but you can use the code. To help remember which password goes with which account. Add the first and last letter for the account. For Facebook, add Fk,Ge for Google,Ae for Apple and so on. It’d take hackers 1 trillion years to crack this. At any time you can change the passwords by simply adding another special character. And all you have to remember is your favorite movies and the secret code. It’s easier than you might think. That’s What the Tech? I’m Jamey Tucker
