City of St. George now offering people its first municipal services through nonprofit

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Some municipal services are available to residents in the City of St. George beginning Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Institute for Building Technology and Safety is a nonprofit organization providing the first municipal services offered by the City of St. George since its incorporation.
"Through a nonprofit-public partnership (NP3) model, IBTS will manage building department services, including permitting, inspections, and floodplain elevation certificate reviews; Board of Adjustment zoning variances; planning and zoning services; administrative and financial support for public records, accounting, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) compliance, occupational licensing and renewals, and revenue collection," according to a news release from the organization.
Staff from the nonprofit will be temporarily available at St. George City Hall, 14100 Airline Highway, to answer questions between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents can also email [email protected].

"We are excited to take this important step in providing outstanding service for our residents and businesses," said St. George Mayor Dustin Yates said in the news release. "We are confident that IBTS’ proven track record, responsiveness, and technical expertise will help streamline our transition and ensure minimal disruption for our residents and businesses."
