BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - A festival with music, food, vendors, and more is coming to Baton Rouge. A Taste of Deep South Festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20. Henry Turner Jr., the founder, said it "provides a performance opportunity for new, local and regional artists, as well as local favorites." While the event is free to the public, VIP experience tickets are available. Tickets for the pre-party and VIP packages for the festival on Saturday and Sunday can be bought online. There will be a pre-party on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room, 2733 North St. It will run from 7 p.m. to midnight. Leslie Blackshear Smith and Ms. Pressure will perform, and pre-party music will come from Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor and the Listening Room All-Stars. There will be a cash bar and a Southern buffet for guests. It is $25 for those who pay ahead of time and $30 at the door. Parking will be available on the street or in downtown parking garages. Organizers said there will be "entertainment on two stages, a Vendor Village with arts and crafts, clothing and jewelry and a food court with festival food favorites." Turner said there will be 22 bands and musicians performing over the two days, "including a dance troupe and our house comedian." Check out the event schedule provided by event organizers below.
