LAWRENCE — A 12-year-old boy died after a tree fell on him Monday. Police responded to a report on Eldridge Avenue at 12:09 p.m. Officers freed the boy from under the tree and performed CPR. He was transported to Capital Health System – Regional Medical Center by Lawrence Township EMS, where he died from his injuries. The boy was playing with a friend in his backyard when gusty winds caused the tree to fall, striking him. Lawrence Township School District will provide counselors this week for students and staff. Therapy dogs and members of the Mercer County Traumatic Loss Coalition will also be at schools. Lawrence Township Detective A. Tara and Mercer County Homicide Task Force Detective P.
