CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Crews are battling heavy fire and smoke at the Garden City Center plaza in Cranston. The fire seems to have spread from Applebee’s to Bistro. According to Cranston Fire Chief Robert Ryan, crews arrived at the scene at approximately 5:30 a.m. They encountered heavy fire through the roof, and fire was also found in the kitchen going into the ceiling. Crews then opened the roof and used foam to attempt to extinguish the blaze. As of 7 a.m., the fire was a second alarm and was contained to the back of the Applebee’s. There was no one in the building at the time of the fire and no firefighters have been injured. This is a developing story, stay with ABC6 for more developments. Categories: News, Rhode Island
