PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A juvenile and his father were arrested in Porterville last week following a search warrant, according to the Porterville Police Department. Officials say on Oct. 11 at 11:30 a.m., detectives of the Porterville Police Department responded to a residence in the sub-100 block of South Doree Street to serve a search warrant. Detectives say they were investigating a male juvenile for having a fully automatic handgun. During the investigation officials say the male juvenile was identified as a documented criminal street gang member and was on probation for armed robbery. Upon the search, detectives say they found a loaded non-serialized handgun with a device affixed to it that converts it from semi-automatic to fully automatic and second semi-automatic handguns. Police say one of those handguns belonged to the juvenile's father, 36-year-old Miguel Quijada, who was determined to be a convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. The Porterville Police Department The Porterville Police Department They also found promethazine and over 100 pounds of processed marijuana, which according to officials, was easily accessible to a four-year-old child who resided at the residence. Both Quijada and the male juvenile were arrested due to the located items. The juvenile was arrested for suspicion of six charges and is booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility. Quijada was arrested for suspicion of five charges and is booked at the Tulare County South County Detention Facility. He is being held in lieu of $120,000 bail. According to officials, there is no evidence at this time linking this incident to any of the recent school shooting threats. The report was submitted to the Tulare County District Attorney's Office for review.
