ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It will be a meeting featuring a pair of high powered offenses. The University of New Mexico Lobos and Utah State Aggies will meet in Logan, Utah on Saturday. Both teams are currently in the top 25 in college football when it comes to total offense. The Lobos are averaging a little over 456 yards per game while the Aggies are averaging 463. The Lobos are averaging 35 points per game while the Aggies are at 25. Defenses for both teams will be challenged. "They're explosive," said UNM head coach Bronco Mendenhall. "Utah State has a great scheme, capable players. They score a lot of points, capable of scoring a lot of points, yardage accumulations are, you can see what those are. They're very impressive." The Aggies have won their last seven meetings against the Lobos. Six of those wins have been by double digits. The Lobos are 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain West. The Aggies are 1-5 overall and 0-2 in league play. The game will have a 2 p.m. start time Saturday. It's only the second afternoon start time for the Lobos this season. Coach Mendenhall prefers the afternoon start. "The night time is a long day and about every scenario that could possibly play out and even the ones that don't exist go on in my head during the day," said Mendenhall. "So, the sooner the better. I mean I like afternoon. I like college football early afternoon. I like to come home at a decent hour and especially at this point in the season. Those things matter." The game will be broadcast on TRU TV/ Max.
