PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials say the Westminster Street building fire is contained, and firefighters are monitoring for hot spots. Just around 7:30pm on Tuesday, firefighters arrived to heavy flames coming from a one-story building. Providence Fire Department Chief Derek Silvia said the bulk was extinguished in under an hour, and no injuries have been reported. Over sixty firefighters contributed to the efforts. Officials say the corner of the building collapsed but no surroundings buildings were damaged. Nobody was reported to be inside the building at the time. Ogie’s Trailer Park, a bar adjacent to the building, was evacuated. Officials have labeled the fire as a three-alarm commercial building fire, which means the fire was large-scale and dangerous. ABC6 News crews on the scene saw firefighters supplying water to the building from ladders and hoses, and heard several loud pops coming from inside the building as firefighters worked to keep flames under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Large booms can be heard from the inside of the building. Large cloud of smoke can be seen from pretty far away. @ABC6 — Alyssa Azzara (@alyssaazzaraTV) October 15, 2024 Chris Diaz shared video from the scene with ABC 6 News that shows flames coming from the roof of an industrial-style building directly behind Ogie’s Trailer Park.
