Fire extinguished in Downtown Honolulu highrise

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A fire in a high-rise residential building in downtown Honolulu was extinguished on October 15, 2024.

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:29 p.m. and dispatched 10 units with approximately 39 personnel to the scene at 35 N. Kukui Street.
The first fire unit arrived at 2:35 p.m. and found a working fire on the 23rd floor.

Firefighters quickly secured a water supply, initiated an aggressive attack on the blaze, and conducted thorough searches to ensure no occupants were inside the building.
The fire was brought under control by 2:51 p.m. and fully extinguished by 3:01 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
An investigation has been launched to determine the origin and cause of the fire, as well as to assess the damage.
