BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Woman's Hospital says remembering infants who lost their lives during and after pregnancy is important to remind grieving families someone is in their corner. Whitney Craig, manager of social services at the Woman's Hospital, says pregnancy loss in the community is at an all-time high and needs to be addressed. She says an event like this can not only bring awareness, but also bring families together. "About one in four pregnancies will end in miscarriage or loss, and we see that every day here at Woman's Hospital. And so, that is also why this event is so important," Craig said. New West Baton Rouge Career Academy offers hands-on training, programs for high school students The event hosted a one-mile stroll around the lake, with the names of children a family lost on signs. They also had a candlelight and read aloud the names of the children who passed away, as well as some services the hospital offered partnering with organizations across the community. Although a yearly event, this is the first time they've hosted it at the hospital. Craig says they want to make sure they offer as much support as possible. "We know it can be difficult to come back to the place where that loss occurred. So, to have that, but to unite that with the support," Craig said. The Daniel family says they can't thank the hospital enough for all they went through. Caitlyn and Alden Daniel say it would have been their daughter, Sarah Margaret Daniel's second birthday this year. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Experiencing her loss here at the hospital wasn't easy, but she says they were right by their side through it all. This is their first time attending an event like this and says she and her family feel comfortable and appreciated. "It's a club that no one wants to join. But it's just comforting knowing that other people are here with us, and they understand," said Caitlyn.
