The Mower County Veterans Memorial board announced Tuesday that a major part of the memorial’s renovation has been completed by the general  contractor Joseph Company. The next phase of the project will be the steel structures that will house 1,327 pavers. The estimated time for all the steel structures, that are being done by EZ Fab, is to be in place by the end of October. It is not known  at this time if the renovation project will be finished by the time the snow flies, but it will certainly be ready for next year. The Veterans Memorial board wants to thank all the donors that have made this project possible, though there is still some ways to go. The project is currently at 97% of the goal of $220,000. If anybody would want to purchase a paver to honor a veteran, they can do so. The cost would be $300 per paver until the end of this year. Then it will go to $400 per paver in 2025. All the paver proceeds, plus any other donations will all go towards this renovation project. For anybody that would like to donate they can send a donation made out to the Austin Area Foundation/memo Veterans  Memorial, PO Box 6, Austin, MN 55912. If anyone would like information about purchasing a paver they can call Mike Ruzek at 507-460-8965 or they can pick up a form at the veterans service office.
