The Harris-Walz campaign criticized former President Trump for his demeanor during a Tuesday interview with Bloomberg’s editor-in-chief. “As Donald Trump faces scrutiny for his unstable behavior and refusal to release medical records, Trump was angry and unfocused as he rambled on and on in an interview with Bloomberg at the Economic Club of Chicago,” the campaign told reporters in a press release. “The moderator had to press Trump multiple times to focus and stay on topic,” the release continued. “Trump instead became agitated and lashed out advocating for a series of extreme, unpopular and damaging positions.” Bloomberg said Vice President Harris declined to do an interview on the economy. In her absence, the Harris-Walz team harped on Trump’s sore spots during the appearance, highlighting his stance on the Jan. 6, 2021, capitol insurrection, in addition to his campaign’s support of increasing sales tax and his criticism for the Fed’s interest rate cut. When Bloomberg’s John Micklethwait referenced a Wall Street Journal report alleging his policies would swell the national debt to $7 trillion, Trump resorted to discrediting the outlet and the interviewer on stage. “What does The Wall Street Journal know? They’ve been wrong about everything, and so have you by the way, you’ve been wrong,” Trump said. “You’ve been wrong all your life on this stuff.” The Harris-Walz campaign labeled Trump as “unstable” in the release and criticized him for not releasing his medical records.  “In a single 64 minute interview, Donald Trump showed exactly why Americans can’t afford a second Trump presidency,” campaign spokesperson Joe Costello said. “An angry, rambling Trump couldn’t focus, had to be repeatedly reminded of the topic at hand, and whenever he did stake out a position, it was so extreme that no Americans would want it.” The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
