FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The man who turned himself in following a deadly shooting outside a Fresno restaurant has been charged, the Fresno County District's Attorney Office said. The DA says 28-year-old Lovepreet Singh, the man accused of killing a man outside a Fresno restaurant following a dispute, has been charged on Monday with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. IDENTIFIED: Victim, suspect named in shooting outside Fresno restaurant The Fresno Police Department says they responded to a report of gunfire outside a restaurant and bar just before 8 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the area of Ashlan and West avenues. They say as they were arriving, Singh called 911, saying he had been involved in a disturbance at a restaurant and had fired a gun. According to police, Singh indicated to officers his intention to surrender to police. Once the officers found him, Singh was detained and found in possession of a semi-automatic firearm. Back at the restaurant, investigators say they found 29-year-old Harmanpreet Singh lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police later say they learned through witnesses that Lovepreet pulled out a handgun and shot Harmanpreet in the upper body in the parking lot. As Lovepreet fled the scene, he fired at another victim but missed. Lovepreet and Harmanpreet, both from Modesto, knew each other. The DA says Lovepreet Singh's arraignment was continued to Oct. 30.
