During the month of October, Rancho Luna Lobos adds a spooky twist to its regular kennel tours, offering families a chance to experience seasonal thrills alongside the stories of the ranch’s dogs. The tours are available Thursday and Friday evenings.“Over the years, my staff, including my wife and I, we’ve seen and heard some spooky things happening around the ranch,” said Fernando Ramirez, owner of Rancho Luna Lobos. “We make it fun by doing a spooky kennel tour, where people still come and learn about what we do, and we throw in some of those spooky stories that we’ve experienced.”.Just like their traditional kennel tours, the haunting opportunity offers guests a chance to learn about the ranch and meet the nearly 100 dogs that make up the Luna Lobos pack.“We believe that every tour should be centered around the dogs. They have amazing stories to tell and they may just leave you feeling inspired and encouraged,” says their website. Ramirez, who was raised in Park City, gained a love for dogs from an early age. Now, as an adult, he is passionate about inspiring kids to overcome the difficulties in their lives through the Luna Lobos pack. One of the pack members overcome adversity is Humberto, a sled dog that had to have his eyes removed. After Humberto’s surgery, the Luna Lobos team thought that he would be more comfortable staying in their Doggy Pueblo — a place where new and lower-energy dogs live and hang out on the ranch. However with much determination, Humberto proved them wrong. “He showed us that, yeah, ‘I may not be able to see, but I can still do what they’re doing,’ ” said Ramirez. “Through training and a lot of trial and error, he’s not only become a sled dog, but he’s actually a lead dog and that’s what’s really cool. Why I love this sport so much is because it shows not only the dogs what they can do, but it shows us, the human pack, of overcoming adversity and really taking initiative to conquer and chase our dreams and that’s the core of what we do.”Additionally, this month, an activity called Lobo by Night is available at the ranch. “It’s a scavenger hunt,” said Ramirez. “We have some people signed up, so they’ll come, we’ll meet here, set them up with their maps, and they’ll do a little scavenger hunt trying to find Boomer, our St. Bernard.”Guests explore the ranch during a haunted Kennel tour at Rancho Luna Lobos Credit: Courtesy of Rancho Luna LobosRamirez said that Boomer will be dressed up as an ogre and whatever group finds him first will win. Groups will be given lanterns as they head out into the ranch to solve clues and hear spooky stories along the way. “The idea is to set up a fun, Halloween vibe type of evening,” he said. There are two dates set for the Lobo by night scavenger hunts which will be held Saturday and on the 26th. For more information or to sign up, visit lunalobos.com/all-activities-and-services.The post Rancho Luna Lobos offers spooky-season fun appeared first on Park Record.
