CADDO COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — A family remembers the memories they will always have after their loved one was hit and killed on the side of an Oklahoma turnpike last week, while their car was broken down. Authorities said the man accused of hitting her left the scene and told a different story when officers caught up to him. Vallerie Willhoite is cherishing the last sound of her sister's voice. "I was asleep Vallerie, I love you," what Vallerie's sister, Kreshardra Willhoite, said on a voicemail. LOCAL NEWS: 1 dead, 2 hospitalized after wave sweeps in visitors at Ke Iki Beach "That was the day she passed away. When she called me back, I didn't answer the phone. So I just want to get her justice," said Vallerie Willhoite, the victim's sister. Kreshardra Willhoite was trying to help her dad with his car on the side of the road on October 6, when her life was cut short. "She came back toward us and he had just crossed the median on the side with me and my daughter was and I saw him coming," said Kenwick Willhoite, the victim's father. Court papers show Willhoite was standing on the shoulder when Wallace Clay allegedly hit her with his car, killing her. It was inhumane," said Jace Willhoite, the victim's brother. LOCAL NEWS: Oklahoma City Police release more details in officer-involved shooting "To see her in pieces like that all over the place, it was humiliating," said Kenwick. Police said Clay took off and drove another 15 miles before police found him. The affidavit said when police got to Clay, he claimed to be on the phone with insurance and said he hit a bird. Willhoite's family said that can't be true. "You could've come up with a better excuse than saying a human being was a bird. You know, my sister's a bird. Now she's an angel," said Jace. "He drove 15 miles with my sister's blood and body parts on his car. I mean, who does that," said Vallerie. Court papers reveal photo evidence that shows body tissue was found in the passenger seat and on Clay's clothing. The Willhoite family is now cherishing the memories of their sister, daughter, and friend. This photo of Kreshardra and her dad was taken the night before she was killed. "Now that I have to live my life without her, it's heart-wrenching. I don't know who I'm going to call for a good day or even a bad day," said Vallerie. It's not yet clear how fast he was driving when he hit Willhoite. Wallace Clay was arrested and faces a charge of an accident resulting in death. The investigation is still ongoing.
