KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A business in Westport has been forced to shut down just days after a shooting left five people injured. The Kansas City Public Safety Task Force investigated the "Westport Media Collective" that ran the business. Westport business owners fed up with crime They found it was operating without a valid license or a current Fire Marshall inspection and was forced to shut down immediately. The city says the task force conducted a walk-through of the Midtown/Westport area Tuesday afternoon as part of the city's ongoing efforts to ensure public safety. Kansas City police responded to the shooting just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the area of Broadway Boulevard and Westport Road. All of the victims, including a teenage boy, were taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
