HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Rock Church Oʻahu and the City of Honolulu worked on a collaboration together for a day of service. On Saturday, Oct. 5, their collective mission became: make Mother Waldron Park look better. Twenty volunteers came to help clean up the park and repaint its walls, giving it a fresh and inviting look for everyone in the community. By picking up trash, painting over old spots and making the park beautiful again, Rock Church Oʻahu took the opportunity to show how much they care about helping the community beyond their church building, that is according to Rock Church Oʻahu leadership. The City of Honolulu took this opportunity to thank Rock Church for their effort\ as they highlighted how important these partnerships are in making public spaces better for everyone. “Thank you for the group's stewardship at Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park on Saturday." said Denny Higa, the City of Honolulu’s Adopt A Park Coordinator. "The invaluable help provided by Rock Church helps beautify the parks that our communities go to enjoy and ‘Adding Quality to Life.’” Mother Waldron Park is now a brighter and cleaner place that residents and visitors can enjoy thanks to this needed collaboration. “The Rock Church is a ‘Do Something Church.’ We believe in turning our faith into action," explained Mark Richardson, the Campus Pastor of Rock Church Oʻahu. "Beautifying Mother Waldron Park isn’t just about the physical changes—it’s about creating a space where everyone feels welcome.” According to a spokesperson for the church, this cleanup is part of Rock Church Oʻahu’s ongoing commitment to support the community and make Oʻahu a better place for everyone.
