GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- A North Carolina A&T State University student is expanding her business with a special tie to homecoming. Proceeds from Grace Bullock’s new product line will likely be a pleasant surprise for a fellow Aggie. The entrepreneur and senior public relations major is expanding her brand known for hand-painted nutcrackers through The University Collection. “We’re still the nutcracker business, but we have added some luxury mulberry silk scarves ... All these designs are created by me, and the designs are going to be changing every year, so there's only 65 of each design, and once they're sold out, they're gone,” Bullock said. Four different scarves and other items are available through Bullock’s business DeEtte Market. Bullock plans to release the collection with new designs around the time of the university’s homecoming each year. A new Christmas nutcracker is included on The University Collection webpage. “I got a lot of messages from the community and other alumni, and they specifically requested an A&T nutcracker, so we delivered," she said. Bullock is grateful for the outpouring of support she’s received since launching DeEtte Market last fall. That’s why she’s created a way for The University Collection to pay that generosity forward. Once the scarves are sold out, Bullock plans to create a fund using the proceeds to pay off a junior NC A&T University student’s remaining account balance, relieving a financial weight ahead of the student’s senior year. “They will be randomly selected, and they don't need to have a 3.5 GPA. I feel like the same students kind of get the scholarships and everything, so I want to make sure that I'm going for the students that may not have the highest GPA, but they're still trying. They're still pushing,” she said. Bullock hopes to assist a student majoring in business or journalism and mass communication. The goal is to help a junior each year. “I feel like it's my duty to help others the way I've been helped. Aggies do, and we're always doing and never done," she said.
