GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The Packers have struggled mightily in the kicking game ever since the franchise' all-time leading scorer Mason Crosby's tenure with the team ended after the 2022 season. After going through a pair of rookie kickers over the past two years, the team is looking to right the ship, with the reported addition of veteran Brandon McManus, according to NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo. To combat the struggles of 2023 rookie Anders Carlson, who was released during training camp, the Packers claimed undrafted rookie Brayden Narveson off waivers, but he's struggled this year, missing five kicks out of 17. Former Packers WR to reconnect with Aaron Rodgers following trade To make room for McManus, the Packers are reportedly cutting Narveson. The 33-year-old McManus hasn't kicked in the NFL this year, as he was signed by the Commanders on March 14, before being released on June 2 after sexual assault allegations against him went public. McManus was not punished by the NFL after their investigation determined there was insufficient evidence to support discipline. McManus has made 81.4% of his kicks since he debuted with the Denver Broncos in 2014, including a career long of 61 in 2021. He's missed just nine extra points in 10 years.
