(WFRV) - The Wisconsin State Patrol announced on social media that they're reminding drivers about the importance of White Cane Day on Tuesday. But, what is White Cane Day? According to the post, White Cane Day is meant to celebrate independence and mobility for people who struggle with vision loss. In addition, the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act, signed in 2010, is a statute designed to ensure protection for the visually impaired while they cross streets. Drivers are asked to do their part in keeping the roads safe by being attentive, avoiding distractions and watching for pedestrians.
