As described in the release, construction types include: Houm: Digital fabrication and industrial-scale production for efficient housing construction. Three Squared: Steel shipping containers are used as the main structural elements of housing construction. New Energy Homes: Utilizing a post-frame building technique for better insulation and energy efficiency. Volumod: Prefabricated modules assembled on-site for customizable and cost-effective housing units. The project's primary purpose was to become familiar with how feasible each of those construction types are, while navigating zoning regulations and building permit processes, according to the release. The project aimed to stimulate in-fill housing in urban areas and share insights for future innovation by engaging builders, developers, policymakers, and the community, the release said. The public can explore all four homes for free on Friday from 2-7 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. The houses stand at 904 E. Berry St. Learn more about the Innovative Housing Showcase on the city's website.
