BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown's official resignation Tuesday morning marks the end of his role as the city's longest-serving mayor. WIVB News 4's Marlee Tuskes sat down with Brown in a one-on-one interview as he reflected on the ups and downs throughout his five terms. Brown resigned after he accepted a new position as the CEO and president of Western Regional Off-Track Betting, which he announced late last month. He served the city for 18 years as the 62nd mayor and made economic development a large focus of his platform. In a press conference Tuesday morning, Brown attributed his resignation to wanting to spend more time raising his great niece and great nephew. He thanked the people of Buffalo, including those in the government, first responders, business owners, volunteers and more. During Tuskes' interview with Brown, he discussed the city's economic growth during his time as mayor, fiscal challenges the city has faced along the current multi-million dollar budget deficit, and the now Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon taking over his position.
