BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man and a woman have been charged with murder in the death of a 2-year-old girl who police say suffered "traumatic injuries consistent with abuse." Gregory Joseph MacDonald, 29, and Chandy McCarthy, 40, were arrested after the child died last week. McCarthy made bail before charges were filed and is due in court Nov. 1. MacDonald's arraignment was postponed to that date to give the Public Defender's Office time to check if it has a conflict of interest representing him. 3 dead, 1 hurt in crash north of Wasco: CHP On Thursday, police were called to the 300 block of Vernal Place in central Bakersfield to a report of a child in medical distress. Officers assisted in life-saving efforts and the child was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A second child in the home was taken into protective custody, police said.
