In a case of Tony Soprano meets Andy Cohen, the ex-husband of a “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for hiring an accused mobster to beat up his ex-wife’s new boyfriend. Thomas Manzo, 59, was convicted in June on two RICO counts and one count of concealing evidence. He faced up to 46 years behind bars because of the RICO connection. “Whether you’re actually in the Mafia or not, hiring the mob to assault someone because of your marital problems is abhorrent,” New Jersey U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a statement. “This office will spare no resources to hold accountable anyone who commits such crimes.” Dina and Dave Cantin. Manzo was previously married to Dina Cantin, who appeared in seasons 1, 2, 4 and 6 of “RHONJ.” In the mid-2010s, their marriage fell apart and Dina began dating Dave Cantin, a man she would eventually marry in June 2017. But in spring 2015, Manzo reached out to alleged Lucchese family soldier John Perna and proposed a deal. In exchange for Perna and Lucchese toughs beating up Dave Cantin, Perna’s daughter would get a sweet deal on a wedding reception at Manzo’s event venue, The Brownstone, in Paterson, N.J. The Lucchese mobsters beat up Cantin on July 18, 2015, and Perna’s daughter enjoyed a gorgeous reception the following month, according to the feds. But Manzo wasn’t in trouble until 2019, when cops investigating the Lucchese family obtained a subpoena for documents surrounding the wedding, which was allegedly crawling with mobsters. John Perna has already served time for the July 2015 beatdown. (New Jersey AG) The concealing evidence conviction was tied to Manzo falsifying documents related to the wedding, the feds said. He and Perna were charged in June 2020. Perna pleaded guilty to a RICO count and served two and a half years in prison. He was released in August 2023. Manzo will be on probation for three years after he’s released.
