A walk in the park, these aren’t — Geauga Park District naturalists have planned three more challenging hikes this season for those who enjoy stretching their legs in the most unique habitats and situations. Hikers can explore Beartown Lakes Reservation in Bainbridge Township in the dark, letting their senses become enhanced, during “Nature at Night” from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 25. No registration is required, according to a news release Those interested can spend three hours hiking 5 to 6 miles on muddy trails with stream crossings and big hills at Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield Township, exploring as many trails as possible and making nature observations as they go, during “The Big Hike at Swine Creek” from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 26. Hikers can also spend six to eight hours on Nov. 10, trying the Park District’s second annual 16.6-mile Buckeye Trail LONG-Haul Hike. Organizers will provide the shuttle service from Headwaters Park’s Route 608 parking lot to the starting point at Big Creek Park in Chardon Township, then participants will hike all the way back to their vehicle.
