GAITHERSBURG, Md. (DC News Now) -- As the countdown to Halloween continues, programs and family-friendly events are lurking in the City of Gaithersburg to celebrate the spooky season. Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, and a series of ghoulish events are coming up. DC News Now compiled a list of events happening across Gaithersburg to help you and your loved ones plan for the holiday. Tricks for Treats Halloween Skate Night When: Friday, Oct. 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.Where: Gaithersburg Skate Park at 501 South Frederick Avenue Time to grab your costume and skates! On Oct. 18, the spooky spirit will take over the Gaithersburg Skate Park for the "Tricks for Treats Halloween Skate Night." The event will kick off at 6 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. The 12,000-square-foot park will transform into a Halloween party with decorations, tower lights, spooky music and free Halloween candy. Guests are welcome to bring their skateboards, inline skates and BMX bikes to the park. Skateboards will also be available to rent. Art Night Out: Spooky Tunnel Book When: Friday, Oct. 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Where: AB Studio 12, Arts Barn at 311 Kent Square Road If you are looking to dive into your imagination, the "Art Night Out: Spooky Tunnel Books," is taking place on Oct. 25. Participants will have the chance to create a tunnel book, a series of cut-paper panels, to bring to life a 3D illusion. 5th annual Nightmare in Navy Yard coming to DC for Halloween celebration Drop-in Trick or Treating When: Saturday, Oct. 26 & Sunday, Oct. 27Where: Gaithersburg Community Museum at 9 Summit Avenue The Gaithersburg Community Museum is gearing up to put on its "trick-or-treating." For two days, guests can join the museum for crafting activities. There will be trick or treating and, of course, tons of Halloween candy. Halloween Party When: Thursday, Oct. 31Where: Benjamin Gaither Center (BGC) at 80A Bureau Drive Calling all ghosts and ghouls! It's time to dust off those cobwebs and get ready for the spooktacular party. From funny and quirky to lavish and retro, guests can show off their best Halloween costumes. Organizers said light refreshments will be served in addition to prizes for the scarier, quirkiest and most creative costumes. All BGC members can enter the event for free, and for non-members, tickets are $5.
