SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Incumbent Senator Elizabeth Warren will face off this week against her Republican challenger for a debate in Springfield.
Who is on the Massachusetts ballot?
Challenger John Deaton and Senator Warren will take the stage at New England Public Media's studios on Thursday at 7 p.m. The debate will be moderated by reporters from NEPM and WGBH news.
“This is the only US Senate debate to be held here in western Massachusetts, and we’re honored to be hosting Senator Warren and Mr. Deaton at our studios in downtown Springfield,” said John Sutton, Vice President of Content and Audience Strategy for NEPM. "Public media plays an essential role in keeping voters informed, and providing clear, unbiased information that helps people make the choices that affect their lives and communities.”

The live stream will be available online at gbhnews.org and the GBH News and NEPM YouTube channels. The debate will be rebroadcast on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on 88.5 NEPM and Sunday on NEPM TV at 7 p.m., GBH 2 at 6 p.m., and GBH 89.7 at 7 p.m.
Warren is running for a third term in the U.S. Senate. Deaton is an attorney and a U.S. Marine veteran who has never held public office. Recent polling shows Warren has a commanding lead.
Deaton is also running against history, the last time a Republican defeated an incumbent U.S. senator in Massachusetts was in 1924, exactly 100 years ago.
