NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Officials have identified the 59-year-old man who died Monday after falling overboard while fishing in Narragansett. Joe Gilmartin was fly fishing alone in a small boat near Black Point when he fell into the water, according to the R.I. Department of Environmental Management (DEM). BACKGROUND: Man dies after falling overboard while fishing in Narragansett He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. The U.S. Coast Guard said Gilmartin was not wearing a kill switch lanyard, which caused the boat's engine to keep running.
