Officials ID victim who fell overboard in Narragansett

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Officials have identified the 59-year-old man who died Monday after falling overboard while fishing in Narragansett.
Joe Gilmartin was fly fishing alone in a small boat near Black Point when he fell into the water, according to the R.I. Department of Environmental Management (DEM).

He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Gilmartin was not wearing a kill switch lanyard, which caused the boat's engine to keep running.
They were able to stabilize the boat with the DEM's help and tow it to a nearby pier.
