LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Tuesday! We are tracking mostly cloudy skies and off and on chilly afternoon rain showers. The best chance of seeing these showers will be during the midday and afternoon hours. Temperatures today will struggle to get out of the low-to-mid 50s, and that is when it’s not raining. During the rain showers temperatures will likely fall into the upper 40s. There is also the possibility of a few rumbles of thunder and even some ice pellets from the thunder showers. Skies will try to clear out tonight and that will allow temperatures to drop into the low-to-mid 30s. A Frost Advisory is out for all of the area due to the temperatures dropping close the freezing mark. If you have any sensitive outdoor plants, make sure you are taking steps to protect them from the cold. We are going to drop close to daily record lows across central and eastern Kentucky as well. October 16th record low is 32 in Lexington and we are going to be dropping right around that number to begin your Wednesday. Wednesday afternoon will feature a bit more sunshine than Tuesday and will be a degree or two warmer. There will also be a slight breeze that will make it feel closer to the low 50s. Another widespread frost is expected Wednesday night into Thursday. Clear skies, very light winds, and dry air will lead to upper 20s and low 30s showing up across the region to start your Thursday. We are expecting to warm up by the end of the week and into the weekend. Friday morning will start off with some patchy frost, but we will climbing back into the mid-to-upper 60s during the afternoon. The warm-up will continue into the weekend and into next week. Afternoon highs will return to the low 70s for both Saturday and Sunday. It looks like another fantastic weekend at Keeneland for the third weekend of the Fall Meet. We are expecting to be warm and mainly dry to start next week. The Climate Prediction Center is highlighting most of the region for above average temperatures and below average precipitation through this timeframe.
