DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) - While a fictional town in Illinois would dread the idea of seeing Michael Myers return to wreak havoc around Halloween, that's not the case for the community of Decatur. Evan Zimmerman, also known as “Michael Myers of Decatur”, has served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly two decades. And since 2012, he's taken on the role of a more family-oriented version of the classic horror character, making comedic viral videos with his wife and son that have reached millions of people. Zimmerman hasn't been able to haunt the streets of Decatur because he's been away serving our country. His most recent deployment marked his third tour. Zimmerman told WANE 15 that was likely his last long trip, and he now plans to be home for good. His wife, Sabrina, celebrated his return with the help of the community. Loved ones and neighbors gathered Saturday for a surprise homecoming complete with a crowd full of American flags, signs showing support, and even a cameo with the Michael Myers mask. Zimmerman also said he would be getting back into character as the infamous, fictional serial killer this Halloween.
