CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Firefighters were called to a West Ashley home twice just hours apart. Charleston firefighters were dispatched to Lavington Road around 11:40 p.m. Monday to investigate reports of smoke in the area. They discovered smoke coming from a two-story, single-family home and additional units were requested. Crews ensured everyone had evacuated the home and began to attack the fire, officials said. The fire was controlled within 10 minutes. Lavington Road fire investigation | Photo courtesy Charleston Fire Department Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s office reviewed the incident and determined the fire started in the kitchen. The cause remained under investigation. Officials said no injuries were reported. They cleared the scene at 2:30 a.m. A few hours later, at 7:30 a.m., dispatchers received reports of a residential fire on Lavington Road and crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the same house. No injuries were reported during the second call. Fire investigators remained at the scene Tuesday afternoon. A cause was not given.
