FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) – Forget the tricks, it's all treats with this effort to keep Folly Beach beautiful! A pre-Halloween beach sweep is planned for the island community later this month. People are encouraged to dress up in their best costume and join “Toby the Turtle” for the third annual “Toby’s Spooktacular Sweep” on Sunday, October 27. While the goal of the event is to sweep litter from the beach and Folly Beach streets, volunteers will also help collect crucial data for the South Carolina Aquarium used to keep track of trash and other unwanted items left behind. The sweep takes place from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., and an after-party will follow at Lowlife Bar from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. including after-sweep treats. Participants will also have access to day-long specials and discounts at many Folly Beach restaurants by presenting their sweep-issued wristbands.
