JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – A beloved holiday tradition will return for its 35th year next month. The Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park features over 750 light displays along a three-mile drive around the park. The festivities begin November 15 through December 31. Guests can also stop and enjoy family-friendly activities like riding the “magical Festival Express” train, viewing the 50-ton sand sculpture, taking a spin on the old-fashioned carousel, and roasting marshmallows over an open fire. You can also browse gifts and crafts and enjoy hot cocoa, savory snacks, and sweet treats along the way. Plus, Santa will be available for visits and photos each night through Dec. 23. “Families can book private visits during the day on select Saturdays in December. People with disabilities and their families are invited to schedule inclusive visits with Santa on Nov. 24 and Dec. 8. The park is open each night from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. To ensure a smooth visit at the Holiday Festival of Lights, organizers worked to determine each night that will have light, moderate, and heavy crowd levels. Admission prices will vary on the night, and guests can save money by purchasing their tickets online in advance. Green (light crowd level) nights will be $15 per vehicle in advance or $20 at the gate. Yellow (moderate crowd level) nights will be $25 per vehicle in advance or $30 at the gate. Red (heavy crowd level) nights will be $30 per vehicle in advance or $40 at the gate. “A calendar denoting each night’s category is available at HolidayFestivalofLights.com. Charleston County Parks highly recommends advance ticket purchase and visiting on a green or yellow night; not only will guests save money these evenings, but traffic and crowds at the event will be lighter,” said CCPRC. Gold Pass holders receive one free vehicle admission per annual membership period (Gold Pass must be presented at the gate).
