The New York franchise of the Professional Women’s Hockey League got a new name and a new home this offseason. And now it has announced a 30-game schedule as the PWHL gets set to open a second season. The New York Sirens will open the new campaign on the road on Sunday, Dec. 1 against the defending champion Minnesota Frost at Xcel Energy Center as part of a three-game, season-opening road trip that also stops in Montreal and Boston. The franchise will make its 2024-25 home debut at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, Dec. 18 against the Toronto Sceptres. The newly-named Sirens will play 13 times at the Newark arena that also is the home of the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils. “With the schedule set, we’re eager to get to work,” said Sirens head coach Greg Fargo said in a statement. “It has been clearly established that this league requires us to compete at the highest level every night and I am certain that season two will bring out the best in our team. There’s a lot of talent and energy in this group, and I’m confident we’ll give our New York Sirens fans a season to cheer for and be proud of.” In the debut season of the PWHL, the New York franchise finished at the bottom of the standings with 26 points and were one of two franchises to miss the postseason. “Missing out on the playoffs in year one lit a fire in us going into this off season,” said Sirens captain Micah Zandee-Hart. “We know this group has more to give and with some new faces in our lineup, we’re ready to come out of the starting gates in full force.” Zandee-Hart added: “We’re thrilled to call Prudential Center home.” The Sirens will open training camp on Tue4sday, Nov. 12.
