MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police have arrested a woman accused of setting several fires in Midtown on Monday morning, resulting in nearly $100,000 worth of damage. Memphis fire investigators said the 35-year-old suspect set nine minivans and a storage building on fire in the 600 block of Philadelphia and said the flames also damaged a fence and storage building. WREG photo Investigators believe she also set a car on fire outside a strip mall at Union and Kimbrough and inside a parking garage connected to the building. They arrived and started putting out the flames on the car when another passerby notices the smoke coming from the back of the building," said Franklin. The fire caused about $35,000 of damage to vehicles parked on the property. Police said the same woman also set towels and grass on fire at 15 E. Parkway and tried to set some gas pumps on fire at a gas station in the 2200 block of Union Avenue. MFD said a woman tried to set a pump on fire at this gas station on Union Avenue. WREG photo The owners of United Food & Fuel weren't there at the time but said the woman came into their store, grabbed a lighter and some charcoal, and went back outside. The owner said the woman was not able to start a fire, and police were called to the scene. The suspect, not identified by the fire department, was taken into custody and transported to the Regional One Medical Center. She is facing arson charges.
