Oct 14, 2024
ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — Public transportation services may be limited during Indigenous Peoples Day across D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
On Monday, Oct. 14, Metro will be operating on a holiday schedule for Indigenous Peoples Day which means less frequent services for riders. Some stations will be completely closed for repairs including Shady Grove, Rockville, Twinbrook and North Bethesda.
Metro said during the holiday, crews are working to replace switches, remove vegetation, maintain gates, and perform cable insulation testing.

Rider Matt Scott said he didn’t know about the change and had to take an Uber to work instead.
“It's pretty inconvenient,” shared Scott. "I would say they definitely should not do it on the holiday weekend. You know, just try and schedule it better for next time.“
Riders can take local and express shuttle bus service instead, which will replace the trains between Shady Grove and Grosvenor-Strathmore.
