LATON, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Thanks to the support of the local community, the Laton Fire Department says they are getting a facelift. Firefighters say their firehouse, located at 20799 S. Fowler Ave., will be receiving upgrades, including replacing "that pesky crooked L" on the building. Crews say the Laton High School Ag Shop will be replacing the old wooden letters with brand-new steel ones. They are set to be displayed following a building repaint. Aside from new steel letters, the department says thanks to the generous donations from the community, they were able to purchase: New station shirts and hats Security cameras installed around the property All new property lighting Training program for all personnel (Fire and EMS Services) One new emergency response medical bag Fire Prevention Week Materials All materials for building upgrade (Paint and supplies) Firefighters say while there is still more to come, they would like to hear from the community what kind of other changes people would like to see. The Laton Fire Department warmly expresses its gratitude for the support of the local community.
