Texas is taking the fear out of college admissions by launching a new tool that will tell students which public universities they can get into before they even apply. On Friday, Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) launched the Direct Admissions initiative, which allows Texas students considering applying to state public universities to know whether they’ll get in before they fill out the necessary paperwork. “Through Direct Admissions, Texas is able to accelerate the state’s work to make the college admissions process more efficient and effective for Texas students,” THECB Chair Fred Farias said.
