FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) — An Assonet man was arrested Friday after a Freetown Police Department investigation led to a warrant for several serious offenses, including rape. Brendan D. Nunes, 23, is accused of rape, drugging for sexual intercourse, strangulation/suffocation, witness intimidation, and three counts of assault and battery, police said. Nunes is being held at the Bristol County House of Correction on $50,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Fall River District Court on Tuesday.
