LONDON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Laurel County Courthouse and its annex reopened after a bomb threat prompted evacuations and street closures earlier Monday. According to a Facebook post from the London Police Department, the threat was called in just after 10 a.m., leading to an immediate response from law enforcement to secure and search both buildings. Laurel County Clerk Tony Brown commented on the severity of the situation, emphasizing the legal consequences for the perpetrator. “It’s a scary time when people are making threats of this nature. And to the person who made the threat, you should know you are now a target for the FBI because you have committed a felony,” Brown said. He highlighted that such threats interfere with absentee voting processes, further compounding their seriousness.
